ISLAMABAD: Authorities are considering linking passport services with the Pak ID mobile application as part of efforts to make passport-related facilities more accessible and convenient for citizens.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting of senior officials chaired by Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting reviewed the current status of passport services and various initiatives aimed at improving the system.
Officials discussed measures to streamline the passport application process and make it easier for citizens to access services. The existing facility for applying for new passports through NADRA centres was also reviewed.
The proposed integration of passport services with the Pak ID app was among the key issues discussed during the meeting. The initiative could provide citizens with greater access to passport-related services through a digital platform.
Officials also examined ways to improve the passport delivery system. Measures aimed at making delivery faster and more efficient were discussed as part of the broader efforts to improve service quality.
DG Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed the relevant officers to address citizens’ practical difficulties on a priority basis. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining transparency throughout the passport service process.
Pakistan has already been expanding digital facilities in its passport system. According to the Directorate General Immigration and Passports, online passport services, cashless fee payment and home delivery facilities have been expanded since July 2026.
The latest discussions indicate continued efforts to use digital technology to simplify passport services. Further developments will determine how and when passport-related facilities may be integrated into the Pak ID application.
The initiative is aimed at making the process from passport application to delivery more convenient and efficient for citizens.
