Islamabad: The government of Pakistan has released the latest status of Operation Ghadb-ul-Haq launched against cross-border terrorism and aggression. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, while holding a press conference in Islamabad, said that the security forces have crippled the enemy’s military capability and the operation is successfully moving towards its targets.
Casualty and property damage figures
The federal minister, while giving details of the operation, claimed that 481 personnel of the Afghan Taliban regime have been killed so far, while the number of injured has exceeded 696. He said that 226 enemy check posts have been completely destroyed during the ground operation so far, while Pakistani security forces have taken control of 35 important check posts.
Details of the airstrikes
According to Attaullah Tarar, enemy positions are being targeted by the Pakistan Air Force and drones. So far, effective airstrikes have been carried out at 56 different locations inside Afghanistan. In these operations, the enemy’s:
- 198 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns were destroyed.
- Large stockpiles of weapons and ammunition depots were targeted.
- The enemy’s communication network was disrupted.
No compromise on national security
The federal minister said in unequivocal terms that Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty and border defence. He clarified that the aim of “Ghadab Lal Haq” is to ensure peace and stability in the border areas and eliminate those elements who try to target Pakistani soil. He further said that this operation will continue until the final target is achieved.
Analysts’ Opinion
Defence experts say that the recent figures from the operation show that Pakistan has made a major change in its defence strategy and is now adopting a policy of “aggressive defence”. However, analysts have suggested that along with military force, the doors of dialogue should be kept open on the diplomatic front to save the region from a long-term war.
There is a fear of increasing tension on the border after these figures were released by the government; however, the morale of the Pakistan Army is high, and details of further progress are expected to emerge soon.
