Islamabad: It has been decided to provide facility to citizens across the country to collect ready passports on Saturdays as well.
According to the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, passport delivery counters will remain open every Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. The special facility will initially continue for two months.
Under this arrangement, those citizens who are unable to reach there during normal office hours will be able to collect their ready passports on Saturdays as well. The authorities have advised citizens not to delay unnecessarily in collecting their passports after they are ready.
The department has clarified that this additional facility on Saturdays is for passport delivery and collection. Citizens will be able to get their ready documents from the respective delivery counters as per the prescribed procedure.
As per the official procedure, the applicant has to bring the original token to collect the passport. The department also informs the citizens about the status of the passport through SMS service.
The authorities have also issued another important directive. Passports that have not been collected from the concerned offices for more than six months can be destroyed as per the government policy.
Citizens have been asked to collect their ready passports on time to avoid destruction of the document or difficulties in obtaining it later.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has already taken various steps to further facilitate passport services. According to the official website, cashless payment of passport fee and home delivery service were also introduced in July 2026.
The new weekly delivery facility is aimed at providing citizens with an additional day to collect their passports. This can be especially beneficial for those who are unable to visit the relevant office during normal working days of the week due to busy schedules.
