KARACHI: NADRA’s recent performance report has revealed very positive trends in the registration of women and children. Thanks to social awareness and NADRA’s mobile registration units, an 8% increase in women’s registration has been recorded, after which the proportion of women in the registered population has reached 48%. This progress will prove to be a milestone in providing women with access to their legal rights, inheritance and government financial assistance programs.

The report has seen the highest acceleration in the registration of children, which has increased by 18%. However, NADRA has also pointed out a challenge that although 31.9 million births are registered in the union councils, parents have not yet approached them for their “B Form” or NADRA registration. The NADRA spokesperson has appealed to parents to immediately update their NADRA records to protect the future of their children so that they do not miss out on educational and other facilities.

NADRA has also set up new counters and registration centers in remote areas of the country during the year 2025 so that no citizen is deprived of the right to identity. The increasing use of the Pak ID app has also made registration easier for women in rural areas. Experts say that this 11 percent overall increase in registration is a guarantee that Pakistan is rapidly moving towards a fully digital society where the identity of every citizen is secure and authentic.
