Islamabad: Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar clarified during a media briefing at Parliament House that the government has no plans to file references against judges, dismissing speculations sparked by Rana Sanaullah’s recent remarks.

Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that while Sanaullah had pointed out perceived judicial misconduct, he did not call for any formal reference, and the government has not taken any such decision. The Minister assured that if such a step is considered in the future, it will be communicated transparently.

He also highlighted the Chief Justice of Pakistan’s role in leading the Law and Justice Commission and initiatives like the Rule of Law Program, emphasizing the judiciary’s commitment to upholding legal standards. Additionally, Azam Nazeer Tarar clarified that the Chief Justice’s meeting with an IMF delegation was conducted in his capacity as the head of Pakistan’s judiciary and was unrelated to any specific cases. This clarification aims to reinforce confidence in the judicial system and ensure transparency in government actions.
