Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PT) In view of the long march of the AIADMK, security arrangements have been tightened in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various areas of Punjab, while D-Chowk has been closed by installing containers.

Additional police personnel have been deployed at the entry and exit points of Islamabad. Checking of citizens and vehicles has also been increased at important entry points.

Containers have also been placed at Faizabad, and the number of security personnel has been increased. There is also a heavy police presence on the motorway, GT Road, and other important highways from Attock to Islamabad.

Containers have been moved to various locations after the talks between the government and the opposition failed to make progress. A large number of containers are also present on the Jhelum GT Road; however, according to reports, the main highways are currently open for traffic.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 across the province from October 6 to 15. Under the notification, gatherings, processions, and other gatherings of five or more people in public places, highways, and open spaces will be banned.

During this time, carrying and displaying weapons in public places will also not be allowed. Inciting or encouraging people to participate in illegal gatherings has also been banned.

According to officials, wedding ceremonies, funeral prayers, burials, and other places of worship, including mosques, will be exempted from this ban. Section 144 will also not be applicable to courts, government institutions, and events held with regular permission.

According to the Punjab Home Department, this step has been taken in view of law and order and the protection of life and property of citizens. Intelligence reports have also revealed security concerns regarding public gatherings.

On the other hand, due to the possible effects of the PTI long march, the Peshawar Board has postponed the annual matriculation examinations scheduled for October 7, 8, 9, and 10. According to board officials, the new schedule will be announced later.

Meanwhile, IG Punjab Rao Abdul Karim has said that the law and order situation in the province is normal. According to him, the small and big roads of Punjab are open, and there are no roadblocks at any place at present.

He said that action will be taken against the officials responsible for negligence or poor performance of duties as per the law and relevant rules.
