Lahore: In Pakistan, a severe heat wave in mid-April 2025 has engulfed various areas of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature may be 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above normal in southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, while the temperature is also likely to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher in the northern and central regions.
The temperature in Karachi has reached 39.1 degrees Celsius, and the intensity of the heat is increasing due to lack of moisture in the air. According to the health department, due to this intense heat, the public may face heatstroke, dehydration, and other health problems.
Experts have advised citizens to avoid going out in the sun during daytime hours, especially from 11 am to 4 pm, wear light and loose clothes, and consume more water or beverages. Special care needs to be taken of the elderly, pregnant women, and small children.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert in various districts of Sindh and Punjab, directing the local administration to conduct awareness campaigns among the public and provide emergency medical facilities.
Experts say that due to climate change, the intensity and duration of heat in Pakistan is increasing every year. People should take precautions and follow government guidelines to avoid potential health risks.
