Islamabad: Electricity consumers are likely to see an increase of Rs2.56 per unit in their bills under the September 2026 Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA). According to the Power Division, government measures have helped limit the expected increase to Rs5 to Rs6 per unit.
Officials say that limited-duration load management during September reduced the dependence of power generation on expensive fuel. In addition, the supply of imported regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) also helped reduce costs.
According to the Power Division, the total fiscal impact of the proposed adjustment could be around Rs32.7 billion. This amount is expected to be included in the electricity bills of November.
However, the final implementation will be subject to the relevant regulatory process and government notification. Consumers should check the details of the adjustment in their bills.
