Islamabad – During a National Assembly session, Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, who is the Federal Minister for Law, talked about the government’s strong steps against human trafficking. In response to a notice calling for attention to the fact that not enough was being done to stop human trafficking, the minister gave specific data and reports on new efforts.
“In 2024, a total of 3,456 human trafficking cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 1,638 traffickers,” Tarar said. He also said that 38 people from the Red Book and 15 crime network leaders had been caught, and assets worth PKR 68.81 million had been frozen.
The minister also talked about current events, like the 42 cases of human trafficking that were reported in December 2024. He talked about the harsh punishments given to officials, such as terminating 38 FIA officers after the Greece boat tragedy.
As part of the changes, trafficking crimes are now considered crimes that can’t be released on bail, and only certain courts can handle these cases. “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is personally in charge of the anti-trafficking efforts and gets updates on them every week.” “We are also introducing a bill to make these efforts stronger, and I hope the Assembly will back it,” Tarar said.
These steps show that the government wants to break up trafficking networks and give victims justice.
