Islamabad: Chairman of the PTI Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that the party has never opposed political contacts and talks; however, the political struggle will continue until progress is made on basic demands and justice is provided.
Talking to the media outside the parliament, Barrister Gohar said that consultations were held on the current political situation in the meetings of the PTI leadership and the parliamentary party. According to him, the party has tried to resolve issues through talks and adopt the path of reconciliation to improve the situation.
He said that if the grievances are not redressed and no practical progress is made on the demands, it is difficult to expect the protest to be avoided. He said that issues related to the implementation of court orders, meetings and treatment also need to be resolved.
Barrister Gohar said that in a democratic system, political issues are not resolved only through statements, but practical steps are also necessary. According to him, if the state wants to reduce political tension, then such steps should be taken that make it clear that the concerns of the PTI are being taken seriously.
He also announced the long march on September 27 and said that this protest will be peaceful. According to him, PTI workers will head to Islamabad, and the party will try to ensure that the entire process proceeds peacefully.
The PTI Chairman said that the path of negotiations and political contacts is still there. He expressed reservations over some measures related to the women of the family of the founder of PTI and party workers and demanded that the state review the policy.
Barrister Gohar said that despite political differences, democratic channels should remain open for the people and political parties. He said that until there is progress regarding justice and basic demands, the PTI will continue its political struggle.
