Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gauhar has confirmed contacts with the relevant authorities at the federal level on the current political situation. He has said that contacts have been ongoing since last night and his position on the recent events has been conveyed to the relevant people.
According to Barrister Gauhar, the PTI has asked the authorities to avoid such steps that could further worsen the situation. He also drew attention to the possible effects of the arrests and said that there is a need to reduce tension at this time.
This statement has come at a time when action has also been taken against the sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan in Lahore. According to available reports, Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan have been placed under house arrest for 30 days and shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The orders for the detention were issued by the Deputy Commissioner Lahore. According to reports, this action was taken under 3MPO on the recommendation of the police. The authorities have stated that concerns regarding law and order were the basis for this action.
Earlier, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan was also placed under house arrest for 30 days. She was shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail. Reference has also been made to the police report and relevant administrative recommendations regarding this action.
On the other hand, Aleema Khan’s detention has been challenged in the Lahore High Court. The petition filed in the court has made the Punjab government, the Home Department and the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, among other authorities, parties. The petitioner has requested to lift the detention orders.
It is reported that the Lahore High Court has also been approached against the detention of Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan. The petition challenges the detention orders on legal grounds.
PTI has expressed reservations over the actions taken against its leadership and the founder’s sisters. The party says that in the current situation, the path of dialogue and communication should be taken to reduce political tension.
This development has come in the context of PTI’s announcement of an Islamabad march on September 27. More progress is expected on political activities and administrative measures in the coming days.
