In view of the increasing pollution, the Environment Department has banned dry sweeping and has made it mandatory to spray water before washing the highways.

The report further states that pollution coming from the Indian border areas has made the situation of increasing smog more serious, the effects of which are also being seen in other cities of Punjab including Lahore.
