Rain and Snow Expected as Western Winds Enter Pakistan from Tonight: Met Office

Lahore: The Meteorological Department has predicted that a new wave of westerly winds is entering the country from tonight, resulting in rain, strong winds and snowfall in mountainous areas in different areas from December 30 to January 2.

According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent rain with thundershowers is expected in the twin cities, Murree and Galiyat, while snowfall is expected in the high mountainous areas. On December 31 and January 1, rain has also been forecast in various cities of central and southern Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujrat, Multan, Bahawalpur and D.G. Khan.

According to the department, the intensity of cold may increase further due to rains, while citizens travelling in mountainous areas have been advised to exercise caution.

According to meteorologists, this westerly wind system could be beneficial for crops, but there is also a risk of damage to weak infrastructure in urban areas due to strong winds.
