Islamabad: Senator Irfan Siddiqui, a member of the government’s negotiating committee, has expressed frustration over the lack of progress in talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that discussions have “not moved an inch in 12 days.”

In a statement, Siddiqui dismissed claims of any government or institutional offer to send the PTI founder to Bani Gala, emphasizing that “no politician is exempt from criminal cases.”

He further clarified that the government has made no demands of PTI, including ending civil disobedience, nor has PTI submitted a list of 45 missing persons or provided a written charter of demands. “PTI has been hesitant to present a formal charter of demands, which has impeded any meaningful dialogue,” Siddiqui noted.

The senator also underlined that the term “political prisoner” pertains to the nature of the alleged crime, not the identity of the individual involved. The impasse continues to deepen the political divide, with little hope of resolution in sight.
