In a meeting with the Dalai Leader-in-Charge, the Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has stated that the future of Kashmir will be decided by Kashmiri people and no other party will be able to influence it, but he has explicitly affirmed that changing the constitution through sit-ins, violence or force of arms is unacceptable in any case in Muzaffarabad.

Media contact in Muzaffarabad: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that Pakistani armed forces were the strength of security and defence of Pakistan and any irresponsible speech against them should be condemned. The responsibility of the field marshal in making peace in the region is in front of all of them, he said.

Expressing any uncalled-for words against Kashmiri people hurts the nation, he added. He said the prevailing situation is alarming to the Kashmiri people, as well as to all the citizens of Pakistan, and therefore, all political parties must be responsible and tolerant.

If the Kashmiri people are hurt, the whole of the Pakistani nation feels the hurt, the PPP chairman has said. He cautioned the political leadership of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, including the protesting people, from using their rhetoric and demeanour in a manner that would further exacerbate the situation.

No one should be permitted to engage in violent demonstration or take the law into their hands, said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He has said that he doesn’t want any politics to thrive in Azad Kashmir that has any element of violence or terror. He said that “the politics which did harm in Karachi in the past should not be repeated in any form in Kashmir.

He said the Pakistan People’s Party believes in the peaceful and constitutional resolution of the Kashmir issue, and no one should be allowed to put pressure on and weaken the state institutions.

Azad Kashmir’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also suggested the establishment of an empowered commission to conduct a transparent investigation into the recent incidents in the region. The commission should be empowered and all the facts brought to light, and all the political parties should be responsible as well, he said, and police agencies should conduct the investigation properly in accordance with the law.

In the end, he said that he had always raised the voice of the Kashmir cause and the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people at international platforms. He said that the issue of the future of Kashmir lies with the Kashmiri people and the constitutional issue can only be resolved through dialogue and not through violence, weaponry or a sit-in.
