Lahore: The latest report of the Relief Commissioner has revealed that 97 people died and millions of families were affected in different parts of the country as a result of the recent floods. According to the report, more than 4,500 villages have been submerged in flood water so far.
According to the data, 2,334 villages were badly affected by the floods of the Chenab River, 672 villages located on the banks of the Sutlej River were submerged, while 1,482 villages located on the banks of the Ravi River were also damaged.
The report said that a total of 4.498 million citizens were affected by the recent disaster, out of which 2.451 million people have been shifted to safe places in a timely manner. 396 relief camps have been set up in different districts for the victims to provide them with shelter and basic facilities.
According to the Relief Commissioner, the flood has also badly affected the agricultural economy. According to officials, so far 1.91 million livestock have been shifted to safe places and saved from major losses, however, the rehabilitation process is still ongoing in many areas.
