Karachi, January 11, 2025 — The PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has asked to enhance public-private partnership (PPP) to resolve Karachi problems; otherwise, there is no way out. In the inauguration of the first phase of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Expressway, he underlined the need for this model because of constrained funds and Sindh’s alleged discrimination in the distribution of federal funds.

Bilawal said that the Malir Expressway has been renamed the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Expressway. He further urged that such projects are central to begin solving some of the major problems affecting our cities today, such as sewage, waste management, and water deficiencies, through partnership with the business world. “Business is not done out of love; the Sindh government has to build solutions where all parties benefit,” he said.

Looking at his family background, Bilawal hoped three generations of Bhutto have contributed to this Karachi. He attributed the credit to his grandfather, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, for the preparation of city structure and job provisions. Likewise, he accredited his mother, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, for paying more concentration to make peace in Karachi during her leadership.

Bilawal also spoke of Karachi’s severe water crisis and called upon the Sindh government to start working on these problems: the construction of green energy parks through the PPP mode. He is proud to pay a Rs. 100 toll tax for the newly inaugurated expressway, promising that such toll charges will be within the reach of people.

Bilawal, in his concluding remarks, said that PPP would always play non-extremist politics and called for unity for the development of Karachi to continue.
