Lahore – Another important diplomatic-military engagement was witnessed in Islamabad when Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held a crucial meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

According to the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, the meeting focused on regional peace, stability and enhancing security cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared interest in maintaining peace in a region often affected by geopolitical tensions. The talks not only focused on bilateral relations but also on the broader regional security environment.

Officials from both countries stressed that dialogue and sustainable coordination are essential to avoid tensions in South Asia and the Middle East and ensure long-term stability. The meeting was also attended by Pakistan’s top national security leadership.

National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Mohammad Asim Malik and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi were also present on the occasion, reflecting the strategic importance of this diplomatic engagement for Islamabad.

The Iranian delegation was represented by senior diplomatic figures including Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghdam, and Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghai.

Their presence signaled Tehran’s intention to engage Pakistan not only at the Foreign Ministry stage but also at multiple institutional levels.During the talks, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the current momentum of Pak-Iran relations.

They agreed to further enhance cooperation in areas such as border security, intelligence sharing, and counter-terrorism efforts – issues that have historically required close coordination between the two neighboring countries.

The meeting also served as a platform to exchange views on changing regional dynamics. With shifting alliances and growing geopolitical uncertainty, both Islamabad and Tehran appear keen to avoid miscalculations and instead promote systematic diplomatic engagement.

Observers see the meeting as part of a broader effort to stabilize the region through institutional dialogue rather than reactive diplomacy. The prominent role of Pakistan’s military leadership in these talks further demonstrates the importance of security-based diplomacy in current regional affairs.

The Iranian embassy described the meeting as “constructive and forward-looking,” saying the two sides agreed to maintain close contact at both diplomatic and security levels.
