Islamabad – Preparations have been completed to shift PTI founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital. Authorities have increased security in and around the hospital in view of the possible transfer.

Senior officers of Islamabad Police visited Shifa International and reviewed the security arrangements. Additional police personnel have been deployed around the hospital.

Authorities have also increased security on the routes leading to the hospital. Barriers have been set up at some places and traffic movement has been restricted.

This development came after the Supreme Court’s order of August 18. The court had directed Imran Khan to be shifted to Shifa International Hospital within two days.

The court also directed the formation of a medical board comprising medical experts for treatment. Imran Khan’s personal physician was also ordered to be included in the medical process.

The government also tried to review the court’s decision. However, the Supreme Court’s Registrar’s Office returned the government’s application with objections.

After this development, the issue of implementing the court order has become more important for the government. PTI has also made it clear that the court decision must be implemented.

According to party leaders, if the transfer does not take place within the stipulated time, they will take legal action. Various statements have also been made by the government regarding the implementation of the court order.

On the other hand, the government has expressed legal and administrative reservations over the issue of Imran Khan’s treatment in a private hospital. According to government representatives, it is the responsibility of the state to provide medical facilities to prisoners.

In the current situation, the security arrangements of Shifa International are of particular importance. However, the completion of the hospital’s preparation does not mean that the transfer has taken place. The final situation will be clear from the decision of the authorities.

Imran Khan has been imprisoned in Adiala Jail since August 2023. The issue of his health and treatment has been the center of political and legal debate for the past several months.

Now the immediate focus is on the implementation of the Supreme Court order and the possible transfer of Imran Khan. If the transfer takes place, the next phase of treatment and medical examination will begin at Shifa International.
