​ISLAMABAD – Delivering on his promise to pass on the benefits of global market trends to the public, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a massive reduction in petroleum prices. Addressing the nation, the PM acknowledged the “storm of inflation” that has burdened citizens and stated that the current dip in international oil prices would be immediately transferred to the common man.

​The headline of the relief package is a staggering Rs 135 per liter reduction in the price of diesel, bringing it down from Rs 520 to Rs 358. Petrol prices have also been reduced by Rs 12 per liter, now set at Rs 366. This significant decrease is expected to have a cooling effect on transport fares and the costs of essential commodities. The new prices will take effect starting midnight tonight, April 10, 2026.
