Lahore: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has denied the circulating news regarding possible new disruption or reduction in gas supply, clarifying that no new changes have been made in gas supply to consumers and the situation is normal as per the pre-arranged arrangements.

The company’s explanatory statement said that some media reports gave the impression that the availability of gas in the country was going to be further affected; however, this claim does not accurately reflect the current realities. According to Sui Northern, no new negative developments have come to light in the gas supply system.

The statement said that the force majeure period announced by Qatar Energy in March 2026 has been extended from time to time, and the recent extension was also regularly communicated to the relevant institutions. Therefore, this situation is not new but part of the already ongoing administrative process.

According to Sui Northern, the overall management of gas supply is being carried out under the supervision of the National Coordination and Management Council and the Ministry of Energy, where continuous steps are being taken to maintain the balance of demand and supply.

The company said that full utilisation of available local gas reserves is being made, while arrangements are also being made for imported LNG cargoes as needed to meet the needs of the domestic, industrial and power sectors.

Sui Northern reiterated that the provision of gas to domestic consumers, especially during cooking hours, is the top priority. Along with this, efforts are being made to maintain continuous supply to industrial establishments and the fertiliser sector so that production activities are not affected.

According to the statement, the power generation sector is also being provided with maximum gas as per the available resources, so that continuity in power generation is maintained and the chances of load shedding can be reduced.

According to experts associated with the energy sector, management challenges arise from time to time due to seasonal changes in gas demand and the availability of imported LNG; however, the supply system can be kept stable through timely planning and alternative arrangements.
