Karachi: The UAE dirham is trading at PKR 76.80 (buying) and PKR 77.80 (selling) in the open market. The dirham’s level is closely monitored because of the large Pakistani expatriate population in the UAE.
Remittances routed through the dirham are a steady inflow of foreign exchange, supporting household incomes and local consumption. Any appreciation in AED relative to the rupee typically benefits families receiving money from the Gulf, while importers sourcing from the UAE face slightly higher costs.
