KARACHI: Pakistan’s open market currency trend remained stable throughout the day as overseas remittances continued to play a strong role in supporting the rupee. The steady inflow from Pakistani workers abroad helped the market absorb pressure from global fluctuations.
The US Dollar (USD) last traded at Rs 281.20 (buying) and Rs 283.30 (selling). Regular remittances from Pakistani workers and students in the United States helped maintain a balanced demand.
The Saudi Riyal (SAR) stood at Rs 74.80 (buying) and Rs 75.40 (selling). The large Pakistani workforce in Saudi Arabia continued to send consistent monthly inflows, which kept the SAR–PKR movement calm.
The UAE Dirham (AED) was recorded at Rs 76.50 (buying) and Rs 77.15 (selling). Remittances from Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi remained an important contributor to Pakistan’s daily open-market liquidity.
The Omani Riyal (OMR), one of the higher-value Gulf currencies, closed at Rs 728 (buying) and Rs 738 (selling). Workers in Oman continued to send strong remittance support to families in Pakistan.
The Canadian Dollar (CAD) was seen at Rs 201 (buying) and Rs 204 (selling). Pakistani communities in Canada, especially skilled migrants and students, added to the day’s stable inflow.
The British Pound (GBP) traded at Rs 374 (buying) and Rs 378 (selling). The UK remained one of the most consistent remittance sources for Pakistan.
In conclusion, the steady remittance support from Pakistanis living abroad helped maintain calm conditions in the open market, allowing the rupee to stay relatively stable despite global currency movements.
