Islamabad: The government has reduced the prices of petroleum products slightly from September 25, after which new prices of both petrol and high-speed diesel have been fixed.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol per litre has been reduced by 84 paisa. After this, petrol will be available at Rs 389.28 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by a relatively large amount. Diesel has become cheaper, from Rs 2.63 per litre to Rs 412.12 per litre.
This change in prices has come at a time when high prices of petrol and diesel affect the expenses of citizens and the business sector. The reduction in diesel price is also likely to affect transport and freight costs; however, its actual impact will depend on changes in other costs and fares.
The new prices will be effective from September 25. The government usually reviews the prices of petroleum products by keeping in mind the prices of crude oil in the global market, exchange rates and other relevant factors.
