Islamabad: The government has announced a reduction in the prices of petroleum products for September 23. According to the new prices, the prices of both petrol and high-speed diesel have been reduced.
According to the notification issued, the price of petrol has been reduced by one rupee and 70 paise per litre. After this reduction, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 392.5 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel has been reduced even more. After diesel became Rs 3.12 per litre cheaper, it will now be available for Rs 418.96 per litre.
The new prices will be effective from September 23, 2026. The government is reviewing local prices in line with global oil prices and other relevant factors under the daily price revision mechanism.
Fluctuations in global crude oil prices have also impacted the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan in recent days. Pakistan imports a large portion of its domestic needs, so changes in global prices are also passed on to local fuel prices.
The recent reduction in petrol and diesel prices will lead to a marginal reduction in the cost per litre for vehicle and freight transport users. However, the overall impact will depend on other costs, fares and market price developments.
The government’s daily price revision mechanism comes at a time when the global energy market is experiencing continued volatility. Global crude oil prices and the regional situation will remain key factors in the direction of petroleum prices in Pakistan in the coming days.
