Karachi: The sales trend in Pakistan’s automobile market during August 2026 was not uniform. Some major companies saw a decline in monthly sales, however, several models performed better than last year.
According to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), Pak Suzuki sold 7,633 vehicles in August. In July, this number was 10,120 units, compared to which monthly sales were 25 percent lower. However, the company’s sales recorded a 7 percent increase compared to 7,154 units in August 2025.
Among Pak Suzuki models, Alto performed prominently. It sold 5,339 units in August, compared to 4,193 units in the same month last year. Thus, Alto’s annual sales increased by 27 percent. Swift sold 1,472 units, Avery 415 units and Cultus 296 units. Phronix sold 111 units, while WagonR and Ravi sales were reported to be zero.
Indus Motors sold a total of 4,029 vehicles in August. This is a 21 percent decrease compared to 5,089 units in July, but the company’s sales were 19 percent higher than 3,400 units in August 2025. The combined sales of Corolla and Yaris were 3,079 units, while the sales of Fortuner and Hilux were recorded at 950 units.
Honda Cars’ monthly sales were almost stable. The company sold 2,633 units in August, compared to 2,640 in July. On a year-on-year basis, Honda’s sales improved significantly and recorded a 145 percent increase compared to 1,073 units in August 2025. The combined sales of Civic and City were 2,553 units, while 80 units of BRV were sold.
The overall sales of August are listed as dashes in the data of Sazag Engineering, while the company sold 663 units in July. The report also includes sales of various models including BAIC, Howal and Tank.
Dewan Motors sold 75 vehicles in August, which is 21 percent more than the 62 units in July. The company’s annual sales increased by 23 percent compared to 61 units in the same month last year. According to the report, sales of Honor V stood at 75 units, while the figure for Kia Shehzore was not recorded for August.
In the commercial vehicle sector, the combined sales of GAL and GHNI were 314 units. In July, this number was 401, hence a decrease of 22 percent on a monthly basis. However, the annual sales were 211 percent higher compared to 101 units in August 2025. The JAC X200 sold 275 units and the Isuzu D-Max 39 units.
Hyundai sold 742 units in August, which is 5 percent more than the 710 units in July. However, the annual sales were 39 percent lower compared to 1,212 units last year. The Elantra sold 458 units, while the Porter sold 252 units. Tucson sales fell to just 2 units from 171 units in July. Sonata sold 30 units, while Santa Fe sales were not reported.
Hino sold 43 trucks and 6 buses in August. Truck sales fell 14 percent from July, but were up 13 percent from a year earlier. Bus sales rose 50 percent month-on-month, but were down 63 percent year-on-year.
In the tractor segment, Al Ghazi Tractors sold 243 units, down 41 percent from 414 units in July. The company’s sales also fell 23 percent from 314 units in August 2025. Millat Tractors sold 809 units in August, down 2 percent from July but up 19 percent from 682 units last year.
The August data shows that the demand and sales situation in the auto market was changing across brands and models. Despite the monthly pressure, the year-on-year performance growth of Alto, some Honda models and a few other vehicles reflects the various trends within the sector.
