KARACHI: After a volatile trading week, the Pakistan Stock Exchange remained bearish, and the benchmark KSE-100 Index closed down 339 points at 170,425 points. The KSE-100 index saw a movement of more than 1,000 points during the trading session, while the overall market value also recorded a decline.
Investor activity continued in the trading session; however, as a result of the overall change in share prices, the index fell below its previous level. The index’s lowest level during the day was 170,120 points, while the overall trading range was 1,006 points.
420 million shares were traded in the stock market, with a total value of Rs 17 billion. Despite this volume of transactions, the market capitalisation decreased by Rs 34 billion, after which it remained at Rs 18,961 billion.
The decline in the KSE-100 index and the decrease in market capitalisation in the stock market indicate a decline in the overall value of shares during the trading session. However, to understand the reasons for this market movement, it is necessary to examine the performance of various sectors, investor trends and economic factors.
