Lahore: Millions of households across Pakistan are set to get a welcome relief as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced a significant reduction in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), effective from July 1, 2025.

According to the notification issued today, the price of LPG has been slashed by Rs. 7.51 per kilogram, bringing the new retail rate to Rs. 233 per kg, down from Rs. 241 per kg. This translates to a considerable reduction of Rs. 87.71 on an 11.8 kg domestic LPG cylinder, which will now cost Rs. 2,750.60, compared to the previous price of Rs. 2,838.31. Commercial cylinders will also see a decrease of Rs. 337.

The decline, which represents a 3.1% monthly price decline, is primarily attributable to a 4.29% decline in the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP), a key international benchmark for LPG prices. While the rupee and dollar exchange rates saw a slight appreciation, it was not enough to reverse the downward trend in global LPG prices.

The price reduction is expected to provide much-needed financial respite to low- and middle-income families, especially those areas not connected to the piped natural gas network, where LPG serves as the primary source of energy for cooking and heating.
