Karachi: Mega Motor Company (MMC), the official partner of BYD in Pakistan, announced that BYD has reached a major milestone of 10,000 vehicles on Pakistani roads, marking the fastest ramp-up by a new-entrant New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand in the country’s automotive history. The achievement reflects strong consumer demand, growing confidence in new energy mobility and the momentum BYD-MMC has built in the Pakistani market ahead of the commencement of local assembly.
BYD entered Pakistan with the BYD Atto 3 and BYD Seal and has since expanded its portfolio to five models. The lineup now also includes the Atto 2, Pakistan’s top-selling EV; the Sealion 7; and the Shark 6, the country’s first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pickup, extending new energy mobility across a wider range of consumer needs and lifestyles.

The pace of adoption also points to a broader shift in consumer confidence. Reaching 10,000 vehicles demonstrates the strength of demand BYD-MMC has established across multiple segments, even as Pakistan’s NEV market remains at an early stage of development.

The next milestone in Pakistan’s NEV journey is already taking shape, with the upcoming BYD-MMC facility set to become the country’s largest state-of-the-art plant dedicated exclusively to the production of NEVs.
The facility will mark a significant step forward in the development of Pakistan’s NEV ecosystem, taking the country from the adoption of imported NEVs to their production locally.
