Promotion of digital banking, Governor State Bank Jamil Ahmed emphasizes on cyber security

Karachi: Addressing the Bank of the Future Forum, Governor State Bank Jamil Ahmed said that the financial system in Pakistan is rapidly moving towards digital technology, where FinTech and the banking sector are shaping the digital future of the country.

He said that “consumers now want easy, secure and fast banking services.” Cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) have modernized financial services, which has not only brought transparency to the system but also improved access to banking.

Jamil Ahmed said that in the current fiscal year 2025, more than 9.5 billion digital transactions were made, of which 68% of transactions were completed through mobile applications. The private sector is rapidly adopting the “Raast” platform, which has become an important part of the digital financial system.

He stressed that “along with the promotion of digital finance, it is important to ensure the protection of consumer information, as any cyber fraud can affect consumer trust.”

The Governor said that the State Bank is taking steps to strengthen the digital ecosystem so that financial institutions and fintech companies can provide better services through modern technology.
