Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has called its Executive Board meeting for Pakistan on December 8, in which a new tranche of $1.2 billion is expected to be approved.

In the meeting, $1 billion will be provided to Pakistan under the EFF (Extended Fund Facility) program, while $200 million is also expected to be released in terms of climate financing.

Economic experts say that the approval of this tranche will strengthen Pakistan’s foreign reserves and stabilize the economy. According to sources, the government will hold further talks with the IMF for the next phase of economic reforms after this meeting.
