Lahore: The Punjab government has launched a new environmental incentive scheme called the Chief Minister Punjab Green Credit Program (CMPGCP), which aims to encourage citizens to work in favor of the environment. Under this program, individuals who perform verified green actions can earn Rs 10,000 per green credit and help promote sustainable living across the province.
What is the Green Credit Program?
CMPGCP is an initiative of the Punjab Environment Protection and Climate Change Department.
It covers multiple sectors: air, land, water, waste management, biodiversity, ecology, and environmental awareness.
The idea is: you perform some eco-friendly actions (“green interventions”), get them verified, and earn green credits, with each credit carrying a monetary reward of Rs 10,000.
Who is eligible and what activities are eligible?
Anyone in Punjab can participate — individuals, households, schools, NGOs, businesses, etc.
A valid CNIC or B-Form is required for registration.
Some of the eligible actions include:
Planting and tree planting
Use of energy-efficient fans, lights
Use of e-bikes, e-rickshaws, rooftop gardening
Recycling and waste management
Solar power installations, clean water projects, environmental awareness initiatives, etc.
How to apply and earn rewards.
- Register through the Green Portal – Use the official website greencredit.punjab.gov.pk while applying.
 - Choose a green action from the list of approved activities.
 - Submit evidence – photos/videos or receipts of what you did.
 - Verification by the government team or oversight committee.
 - Once approved, green credits are awarded, and you get PKR 10,000 per credit.

Rewards and limits
Each green credit is worth PKR 10,000.
Top participants can earn up to PKR 100,000 depending on the number and scale of activities.
Monetary incentives are combined with recognition: badges, certificates, possibly special titles (Green Ambassadors), etc.
Why it matters.
Helps reduce pollution, promote clean energy and sustainable transport.
Encourages ordinary people and institutions (schools, NGOs) to contribute to environmental goals.
Supports major climate goals: Punjab’s climate policy, Pakistan’s Nationally Determined Contribution under global environmental agreements.
Things to watch out for
Verification is essential: Actions must be documented and properly presented. If the evidence is weak, credit may be denied.
There may be caps or limits on how many credits an individual or organization can earn. Knowing these helps in planning which activities to choose.
Initially active in Lahore, with plans to expand across Punjab.
