Allies agree on the establishment of the Constitutional Court, bill will be presented in the Senate: Azam Nazir Tarar

Islamabad: Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has said that the government has reached a consensus on the establishment of the Constitutional Court after consulting with the coalition parties, and the bill in this regard is being presented in the Senate today.

While holding a press conference in Islamabad along with Federal Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Azam Nazir Tarar said that a meeting of the federal cabinet was convened today, which was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif via video link.

He said that consultations with the coalition parties, including the PPP and the MQM, have been completed. The bill will be sent to a parliamentary committee where it will be examined in detail. The committee will be headed by Farooq H. Naik, and the law and justice committees of the National Assembly and Senate will discuss the bill.

Azam Nazir Tarar said that there was a lot of discussion on the issue of transfer of judges in recent days, so the government has decided that the power of transfer will be with the Judicial Commission so that transparency is maintained.

He also said that the elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were postponed due to judicial matters, in this context, an amendment to Article 243 of the Constitution has been proposed.

The Law Minister said that the establishment of a constitutional court will help in improving the judicial system and timely resolution of constitutional disputes.
