Lahore: The case of the alleged police action at the residence of Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan in Lahore has taken a new turn. After the completion of the initial investigation into the incident, a case has been registered against 11 police officials, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sarwar Road police station, while a challan has also been submitted to the court against the concerned officer.

According to the investigating authorities, the police team had reached the area to take action on separate information; however, during the action, complaints were raised regarding entry into the residence of the Attorney General. The initial inquiry took the position that questions regarding the legal procedure and use of powers arose during the action, after which departmental and legal action was initiated.

The complainant alleged that the police officials entered the premises of the residence without proper permission and behaved harshly with the domestic workers present there. The petition also stated that some property was damaged during the operation; however, the investigation into all these allegations is still ongoing, and the final results are yet to be announced.

Police sources said that relevant evidence is being collected for an impartial investigation of the incident, including CCTV records, witness statements and other available information. According to officials, further action will be taken as per the law after the investigation is completed.

On the other hand, the police have confirmed that the SHO of Sarwar Road police station has obtained interim bail from the concerned court. The court proceedings and the departmental investigation will continue separately, while all the concerned parties will be given an opportunity to present their views.

Legal experts say that this case highlights the importance of law enforcement agencies fully respecting the legal boundaries and fundamental rights of citizens during the operation so that public trust is maintained.
