Islamabad: Flour prices have once again increased across the country, and the problems of citizens have increased. According to the latest report of the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the most expensive flour is being sold in Karachi, where a 20 kg bag has reached Rs 2,100.
According to the report, there has also been an increase of Rs 300 in Larkana and Khuzdar, while citizens of Hyderabad and Sukkur are forced to buy flour by paying Rs 280 more. In Quetta, the sack has become more expensive by Rs 210, and in the twin cities of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Bannu, and Multan, by Rs 200.
Flour is not cheap in Lahore either; after an increase of Rs 120, a 20 kg bag has become Rs 1720. In Sargodha, it was Rs 160; in Bahawalpur, Rs 166; while in Gujranwala and Sialkot, an increase of Rs 83 per bag was recorded.
Experts say that this continuous increase in flour prices is the result of an imbalance between supply and demand. If the shortage of wheat is not controlled, a new wave of inflation may arise. Citizens have demanded immediate steps from the government so that the basic daily need of flour remains within the reach of the common man.
