Islamabad: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message on Kashmir Exploitation Day, has said that the Indian move of August 5, 2019, was an attack on the right of Kashmiris to self-determination. India’s abrogation of the special status of occupied Kashmir is not only a violation of UN resolutions but also an attempt to disempower Kashmiris in their own homeland.
The President said that India has planned to change the demographic structure of the occupied valley by including non-Kashmiris in the voter list. Arbitrary delimitation and unjustified arrests are becoming the norm.
He said that this year’s Exploitation Day is of exceptional importance in the context of India’s recent aggressive approach, and on this occasion, the Pakistani people and government are expressing full solidarity with the Kashmiri brothers. He also termed the success of Operation “Banyan Marsus” a matter of pride for the nation.
