Islamabad: The task force’s important marine sector recommendations were accepted by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. This makes way for important changes that will improve naval operations in Pakistan.

Sources say that the Pakistan Marine and Sea Port Authority has been given permission to be created so that it can handle the upkeep and growth of marine matters. It has also been cleared to hire professional CEOs for key organizations like the Karachi Port Trust, the Port Qasim Authority, and the Gwadar Port Authority. This will ensure that the organizations are managed well and run smoothly.

The task group has also suggested that shares in the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) be sold off or made completely private. Instead of bringing in foreign sellers, the government plans to give Pakistan’s private sector shares, which will encourage investment from within the country in the naval area.

A national dredging plan has also been suggested to make sure that shipping routes are cleaned regularly, and the plan will be backed by special funds. The goal of these changes is to improve operating efficiency, boost Pakistan’s marine infrastructure, and bring in local investment, all of which will help the sector grow as a whole.
