Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that national unity is essential against terrorism.

Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that there should be no ambiguity in national security and the fight against terrorism, and the entire political leadership has to be united on the issue. Speaking at the in-camera meeting of the parliamentary committee, he expressed disappointment over the absence of PTI and said that if he had been consulted, he would have advised him to attend the meeting.

Speaking on the incidents of terrorism, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, “I will call the teacher a martyr, but the one who kills cannot be called a mujahid. ” He added that he has been a part of this House since 1988 and has always sworn allegiance to the Constitution. According to him, scholars of different schools of thought have given fatwas before, and their position is also clear: one who takes up arms against the state is a terrorist, because terrorism has no religion or sect.

He stressed that Pakistan has to take decisive action against terrorism without getting into any dilemma at this time. Keeping political differences aside, all forces have to come together on this issue. Maulana Fazlur Rehman paid tribute to all those who have sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism, and said that these people are the chandeliers of our foreheads.
