Islamabad: The federal government has issued an official notification of the deployment of Pakistan Army to assist the civil administration and maintain law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the order of the Ministry of Interior, the deployment of military forces and necessary resources has been approved under Article 245 of the Constitution. The aim of this measure is to ensure the protection of lives and property of citizens and government installations.
The notification has clarified that the deployment of the army will continue until the period of emergency imposed on October 11, 2026. During this period, the Pakistan Army will perform security duties while supporting the provincial civil administration.
According to the order, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will decide the number of military forces and resources to be deployed after consulting the Military Operations Directorate of the General Headquarters (GHQ).
The federal government has said that the notification regarding the deployment of the army will also be published in Part Two of the Gazette of Pakistan.
This decision comes after the imposition of emergency and Governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The federal government has cited the law and order situation in the province and the threat of terrorism as the main reasons for these measures.
