Islamabad: The month of September was relatively encouraging for construction activities in the country. The overall cement sales recorded an increase of about 6 percent, while the pace of demand in the local market was even better.
According to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), the overall cement sales in September 2026 reached 4.62 million tons after an increase of 5.95 percent. This volume was lower than in the same month last year.
According to the data, the local market played a major role in the increase in overall sales. In September, cement sales within the country increased by 7.35 percent to 3.788 million tons.
This improvement in local demand can be considered a positive signal for the demand generated in construction activities and related sectors. However, construction costs, interest rates, and overall economic conditions will also be important to maintain this trend.
According to the association, cement exports during September remained at around 8.32 lakh tonnes. Thus, sales in the external market remained an important part of the overall industry.
The figures for the first quarter of the current fiscal year also indicate an overall improvement in the industry. During July-September 2026, total cement sales reached 1.31 crore tonnes with an increase of 3.88 percent.
According to industry data, the increase in demand in the domestic market is a significant development for cement manufacturers. If this momentum continues in the coming months, it may also have an impact on other sectors related to construction.
However, the sustained recovery of the industry will depend not only on sales volumes but also on production costs, energy prices, financial conditions, and overall economic activity. The September figures definitely present a positive start for the cement market for now.
