An advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader Mohammad Mokhbar has said that if Iran is deprived of air operations and airport facilities, its effects could reach the entire region’s air activities.
This statement by Mohammad Mokhbar came after regional routes for Iranian airlines were restricted. He warned that if Iran is not allowed to operate flights and receive airport services, other countries in the region will not be immune to this situation.
The Iranian aviation sector has been facing several difficulties in recent days. After stopping Iranian airlines’ services at Baghdad Airport, attempts were made to transfer flights to Najaf. However, now Najaf Airport has also announced the suspension of all flights to and from Iran from September 25 until further notice.)
The United Arab Emirates has also suspended flights of Iranian airlines. Air links with Oman have also been affected due to restrictions on Iranian flights and passengers. This situation has increased pressure on Iran’s international air links.
In the background, there are new sanctions against the Iranian aviation sector by the US. US officials have said that foreign companies that provide fuel, landing, ground handling or other services to Iranian airlines could also face sanctions.
For Iran, this situation has become a major challenge in terms of international air connectivity. Due to the sanctions, passengers are having to resort to alternative routes and flights, while decisions regarding Iranian air operations at regional airports are also changing rapidly.
Mohammad Mokhbar’s statement shows that Tehran does not consider these measures to be limited to Iranian airlines. However, he did not provide any details about how his warning will be implemented.
