ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force observed September 7 as Martyrs’ Day and paid tribute to its brave personnel who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the homeland. The sacrifices of the martyrs were remembered at PAF bases across the country and special prayers were offered for their elevation.

The Martyrs’ Day celebrations began with Quran recitation and prayers. On this occasion, those personnel of the Pakistan Air Force who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the country’s sovereignty and airspace were also remembered.

Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu attended the special ceremony held at the Air Headquarters in Islamabad. He laid flowers at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha for the martyrs.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu said that the sacrifices of the martyrs of the Pakistan Air Force are a shining example of bravery, professionalism and loyalty to duty for the nation. According to him, the role of the martyrs is not just a part of the past but a living legacy for the coming generations.

He said that defending the homeland is a big responsibility and the Pakistan Air Force is committed to the requirements of national security by carrying forward the tradition of its martyrs. He said that the sacrifices of the martyrs encourage the nation to remain steadfast in difficult situations.

On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, President Asif Ali Zardari also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Air Force. He appreciated the professionalism of the Air Force personnel and their role in national defense.

The President said that the Pakistan Air Force has maintained its tradition of competition in every era despite limited resources and numbers. According to him, the performance of the Pakistan Air Force in air battles has been a reflection of courage, leadership and effective planning.

Asif Ali Zardari said that the Pakistan Air Force also played an important role in the war of justice and its performance is a symbol of national determination. He expressed his determination that the Pakistan Air Force will continue to fulfill its responsibilities to protect the country’s airspace and sovereignty.

The celebrations of Martyrs’ Day once again highlighted the message that the sacrifices made for the defense of the homeland are an important part of national history. In the ceremonies held in memory of the martyrs of the Pakistan Air Force, their services and sacrifices were remembered with respect.
