Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a negative trend during the business week due to the cautious attitude of investors and selling pressure, resulting in a significant decline in the benchmark KSE-100 Index.

At the end of the weekly trading, the KSE-100 Index closed at 171,021 points after a decline of 4,781 points. The market witnessed sharp fluctuations throughout the week, and the index moved within a band of 8,857 points. The highest level of the index during this period was 178,370 points, while the lowest level was 169,512 points.

In terms of business activities, a total of 3.48 billion shares were traded throughout the week, with a total value of about Rs 138 billion. Investors in the market showed limited interest in various sectors, while selling pressure continued on the shares of several companies.

On the other hand, the total market capitalisation of the Pakistan Stock Exchange was also affected, and a decrease of Rs 512 billion was recorded in it, after which the total value of the market decreased to Rs 19,278 billion.
