Lahore: Taking an important step to promote quality government education in the province, the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, approved the pilot project to establish Aitchison-style boys’ and girls’ schools. The aim of this project is to provide modern educational facilities to maximum students and provide a teaching environment according to world standards.
The meeting chaired by the chief minister reviewed the proposed reforms and new projects in the education sector in detail. During the briefing, it was stated that separate Maryam Nawaz Centres of Academic Leadership will be established in Lahore for male and female students, where world-class sports facilities will also be available along with modern teaching facilities.
The meeting was informed that state-of-the-art sports halls, hockey and cricket stadiums, swimming pools and other modern facilities will be constructed in these educational centres so that students can get better opportunities in the co-curricular field along with academic activities.
According to officials, each centre will have a capacity to admit about five thousand male and five thousand female students, which will give thousands of youths the opportunity to get high-quality government education.
On the same day, a separate meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also reviewed the projects related to the provision of clean water in the province. The meeting decided to activate modern bottling plants in areas with contaminated or polluted water so that safe drinking water can be provided to the citizens of the affected areas.
The briefing said that in the initial phase, water bottles prepared in Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan will be delivered to the citizens through trucks. In addition, more than two thousand new filtration plants will also be installed throughout Punjab to further improve the availability of clean water.
According to government officials, these educational and public health projects will be completed in phases, and their aim is to provide basic facilities like quality education and safe drinking water to the citizens.
