Punjab Sets Safety Framework for Basant 2027 with Strict Kite Flying Rules

Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced a comprehensive safety framework for Basant 2027, which aims to prevent accidents during kite flying and ensure the safety of citizens. These regulations, issued on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, have been made mandatory for full implementation by December 30, 2026.

According to the regulations, kite flying can only be done on roofs that are strong and have a safety wall of at least three and a half feet high around them. In view of the safety of children, parents have been made obliged to constantly supervise them, while children have been prevented from going near the edges of the roof without supervision.

In addition, unsafe activities such as running, jumping, or flying kites in a dangerous manner have been banned on roofs. The use of noise, DJ systems and loud music has also been banned so that citizens do not suffer any inconvenience.
The government has emphasized that in case of any accident or violation of the law, the concerned persons will be held responsible.

The district administration has been directed to strictly implement these rules and regulations so that Basant can be celebrated in a safe manner.

The Chief Minister expressed the hope that the citizens will show responsibility in 2027 as well and ensure safety measures like last year.
