Washington: The ongoing talks between Iran and the US could not reach a final agreement, after which US President Donald Trump has taken a tough stance.
He said that although many points were agreed upon, Iran’s nuclear ambitions remain intact, which is a major obstacle to any agreement.
Accusing Iran of breaking its promises regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said that the US Navy has been instructed to closely monitor the situation and take action if necessary.
He warned that countries providing financial assistance to Iran will not be given safe sea passage, while the US will not refrain from further measures.
According to experts, this statement has raised fears of increased tension in the region and effects on the global oil market.
