Lahore: In view of rising inflation, the government has taken the final decision to give big relief to the middle class. According to sources, a modern mobile application has been developed to provide cheap petrol to motorcycle and rickshaw riders, through which eligible individuals will be given a hefty subsidy of Rs 100 per litre of petrol.
Initially, only 70cc motorcycles and rickshaws have been included under this scheme. Officials say that bikes with engines more powerful than 70 cc will not be part of this relief package. The aim of this move is to help those who depend on their ride for livelihood and are directly affected by petrol prices.
To make the registration process transparent, an app is being launched in collaboration with the IT Ministry, where the data of the riders and the petrol quota will be monitored. Every eligible user will get this discount on 20 litres of petrol per month, which will directly save a family at least Rs 2,000 on a monthly basis.
