ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has officially announced a reduction in the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) effective from March 1st, providing much-needed relief to consumers across the country.
Price Breakdown
According to the notification issued by the regulator, the price of LPG has been slashed by Rs. 2.52 per kilogram. Following this adjustment, the new price for LPG has been fixed at Rs. 225.84 per kg.
Impact on Domestic Cylinders
The most significant impact of this price hike reversal is seen in the cost of the 11.8 kg domestic cylinder, which has become cheaper by Rs. 214.
Price Comparison at a Glance:
| Category | February Price | New March Price | Total Reduction |
| Price Per Kilogram | Rs. 228.36 | Rs. 225.84 | Rs. 2.52 |
| Domestic Cylinder (11.8kg) | Rs. 2,878.88 | Rs. 2,664.88 | Rs. 214.00 |
(Note: Based on the official notification, the domestic cylinder will now be available at Rs. 2,664.88, down from its previous peak in February.)
Implementation and Market Outlook
The new pricing structure has been implemented nationwide starting today. This downward trend in LPG pricing is expected to benefit rural and suburban populations who rely heavily on cylinders for cooking and heating in the absence of piped natural gas.
Market analysts suggest that this decrease is a result of fluctuations in international fuel benchmarks, with the government passing on the benefit of lower global rates to the end-user.
