Islamabad: With the beginning of the new year, the public has faced another inflationary shock when the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued a notification to increase LPG prices.

According to the announcement, the new prices will be applicable from January 1, 2026, after which the price of an 11.8-kilogram domestic cylinder will have increased to Rs 2,592.19, while per kg LPG will be sold for Rs 219.68.

According to Ogra, LPG prices were increased earlier for December as well, resulting in a rise of more than Rs 87 per cylinder, while a further increase has been made for January.

According to experts associated with the energy sector, price fluctuations in the global market and increases in import costs are affecting local prices. They say that the cost of LPG will increase the burden on the low-income group, as domestic consumers mostly depend on LPG in winter.
