Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held an important meeting with Bangladeshi Advisor on Religious Affairs Dr. Khalid Hussain.
The purpose of the meeting was to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh and promote cooperation in various fields.
Nawaz Sharif, while expressing his views on the occasion, said that this is the best time to further strengthen relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He stressed the importance of historical, cultural and religious ties between the two countries.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh go beyond geographical borders and are based on brotherhood from generation to generation. She further said that the Punjab government would welcome cooperation with Bangladesh in important areas such as green energy, flood management and agricultural sustainability.
During this meeting, both sides also stressed on promoting relations in the field of education.
Bangladesh announced 500 new scholarships for Pakistani students, further strengthening ties between the two countries in the field of education.
Other matters of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting, which included regional peace, economic development and measures to increase people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
